Description of the work
The Commission together with the Member States and the Candidate Countries have singled out a theme of excellence for 2009/2010, “Aquatic Tourism”, and have come up with the related general award criteria. The winner destinations will be rewarded as “EDEN destination for its Aquatic Sustainable Tourism Offer”.
It is proposed to reward those coastal, lake and riverside tourism destinations promoting innovative approaches for their aquatic tourism offer in such a way as to promote a more qualitative environment, to cope with the seasonality issue and to rebalance the tourist flows towards the non-traditional destinations.
To answer the requirements of the present call, the Member States National Administrations (hereinafter “the applicant”) are requested to present a scheme to be implemented at national level for the selection of one destination of excellence.
Proposals should be such that the project is realised in an effective manner. Proposals are expected to indicate the most suitable activities and mechanisms that could be put in place to develop and implement the proposed scheme for the national selection procedure.
